The summer vacation had just begun when I received an invitation to visit the City Museum. My parents agreed to take me there every weekend for a month. This experience became one of my favorite memories.
On the first Saturday morning, my parents helped me prepare a map and a small backpack with water and snacks. The museum was located in the heart of our city, surrounded by green trees and colorful flowers. As we walked through the park, I saw many other children carrying school bags, which made me realize how important learning is even during holidays.
We entered the museum through a big glass door. The first floor was full of ancient tools and clothes from different countries. I especially loved the section about dinosaurs. There were life-sized models of T-Rex and Stegosaurus, and I could see fossilized bones on display. A friendly guide named Miss Li explained that dinosaurs lived 65 million years ago and disappeared because of a big mistake by humans. Her explanation made me curious about science.
In the afternoon, we moved to the art gallery. I tried coloring a Chinese dragon picture with watercolors. At first, my brushstrokes were messy, but Miss Li showed me how to mix colors properly. When I finished, my dragon looked so beautiful that other visitors took photos of it. This made me feel proud of my creativity.
The museum had a special area for children's experiments on the third floor. We mixed baking soda and vinegar to make a volcano erupt. The reaction created a big bubble of foam that covered my face. Everyone laughed when I screamed with surprise. Later, we made paper airplanes and launched them from a special ramp. My best friend Xiaoming's plane flew the farthest, so we challenged each other to see who could build the fastest plane next week.
On the final visit, we explored the history of our city. There were old photos showing how the city looked 100 years ago. I touched a glass case containing a vintage bicycle and imagined the people who used it. At the gift shop, I bought a small model of the museum building. This symbolized my growth through this experience.
Now I realize that learning doesn't only happen in school. By visiting museums, we can explore the world without leaving home. I've decided to start a "Weekend Discovery" project with my classmates. Every Saturday, we'll visit different places and share what we learn. This way, we can make every day a new lesson.
During these museum visits, I've learned about history, science, and art. More importantly, I've discovered that curiosity is the best teacher. Every time I see a new exhibit, I remember how exciting learning can be. This summer adventure has given me a new perspective on life. I'm already looking forward to next year's museum trips and the knowledge they will bring.
